Introduction to Healing Your Menstrual Cycle

how to heal your menstrual cycle | menstruation | menstrual taboo | period

Your Menstrual Cycle is so much more than basic evidence of fertility. Did you know that each month, your menstrual cycle is an opportunity to check-in on the status of your health, both physically and emotionally? Or that getting to know your cycle more deeply is the first step on the path to deeper healing, all-round better health, and increased self-awareness and understanding? What if I took that a little next level, and told you that getting to know your own cycles can also set you up to be more closely connected with the cycles of the earth, the moon, and your over-arching life cycle too? And that you can even use your menstrual cycle as a way of checking in with yourself, your goals, your ability to manifest, and your ability to release and let go of that which no longer serves, to help you move forward on your life path?

You may raise an eyebrow. You might even raise both. And I would nod knowingly and grin wickedly at you. It’s all true. Your menstrual cycle is all those things and more. And you might think it a stretch, but I’m also going to let you in on another strangely well kept secret - it is NOT normal to have painful, uncomfortable, erratic, too much/not enough blood flow, terribly symptomatic cycles that affect every organ of your body, from your skin, to your gut and back again. Not even a little bit normal. Rather than jumping on ‘Beccy’s Rant Train’ and explaining the how’s and why’s of how that has come to be over many hundreds of years and much conditioning (more on that in a future blog-ramble), lets instead skip that interesting but lengthy journey and delve straight into the ‘what do I do about it?’ section. Because ultimately, the most important thing is learning the tools and tricks of how we start to fix it, untangle the symptoms and their causes, and start to walk the pathway of healing yourself.

So over time, I will be sharing an avenue for you to explore and to apply to your own cycle to get the journey started. You can find the first article here - Five Ways to Heal your Menstrual Cycle: The Psychosomatic Level - which looks at decoding your period on a mind-body level, and learning what your cycle could be trying to tell you through your pain, nature of your bleed, and symptoms pre-bleed. In future articles we will touch on physical tricks like utilising herbs, diet and nutrition properly at different times of your cycle for relief and prevention of symptoms. We will look at healing the emotional aspects of the cycle, starting with how to really listen to your body’s messages, clear old wounds, and understand the emotional importance of the cycle and the womb space. Then I will share some more ritualistic healing practices, and talk about how you can tune in to and utilise the peaks and troughs of the different energies which naturally fluctuate monthly. And lastly, we will look at our body’s natural cyclical nature, and see how deeply connected these patterns with some of the earths core rhythms, such as that of the moon and the seasons.

I hope this excites you as much as it excites me, and I look forward to sharing this extraordinary, powerful, and downright magical knowledge with you. Please chime in and leave comments of your experiences and thoughts as we go along. Each article will be posted here on the Remedy Botanica Blog, at the Kundalini House Blog, and excerpts will be on facebook and instagram.

Much love,
